Residente Talks Somos Anormales, Julian Assange, Snowden, Milo + More
René Pérez Joglar aka Residente of the legendary Latin group Calle 13 sat down with Hard Knock Tv’s Nick Huff Barili for an hour conversation as part of SXSW’s keynote interview series. Part 3 starts with Residente and Nick talking about the current state of music and how most major artists feel the need to collaborate with other major artists because it seems like the easiest way to get a “hit”. Residente adds that he thinks radio sucks right now. The conversation transitions to Rene breaking down the meaning and inspiration for his first single and video for “Somos Anormales” which features on of Nick’s favorite actors: John Leguizamo. Part 3 of this Keynote conversation also covers Residente meeting a lot of Latin American presidents, his relationship with Julia Assange, who was featured on the last Calle 13 album plus his thoughts on Snowden and Puerto Rico. Last but definitely not least Residente also talks about Milo, the song on his new album dedicated to the birth of his son and shares the creative process behind working with musicians to make that song representative of the dreams he was having leading up to the birth of his son.
