Logic talks Buried Alive, Eminem, Sinatra, Says This Is My Illmatic
Exclusive in-depth interview with Logic. In part 4, Nick Huff Barili sits down with Logic to break down the production, inspiration and meaning of lyrics behind Buried Alive, Logic’s next single. Talking about the different layers to meanings in songs, Logic explains how Under Pressure is his version of Illmatic. “I’m not in nobody’s shadow. I’m not trying to fill nobody’s shoes. This is my Illmatic. I’m not talking about sonically. I’m not talking about the stories…This is my true introduction to Hip Hop, to the world. And people are still listening to Illmatic and catching things for the first time and that’s what I wanted to do here. It’s not Illmatic, its Under Pressure.” As the conversation switches topics, Logic explains why the Young Sinatra persona that he portrayed in his mixtapes is not seen in his debut album. “Young Sinatra is like Slim Shady to Marshall Mathers, Hov to Jay Z…The Rattpack still is strong, that’s the fan base. The Bobby Soxers are still beautiful and awesome, that’s the women. But Young Sinatra to me it was a trilogy. It is who I am, I encompass that but this album is just Logic.”
